INTRODUCTION

The internet is a war for attention, and the battlefield is the first three seconds. Viewers decide to scroll past you in less time than it takes to blink. If you do not grab them immediately, the rest of your video does not matter. You need to master the art of the Pattern Interrupt.

TACTIC 1: THE VISUAL INTERRUPT (0:00–0:01)

Do not start your video sitting still and taking a breath. Start in motion.

  • Movement: Walk into the frame or bring an object close to the lens.

  • Text: Have a bold headline flash on the screen immediately.

  • Action: Be in the middle of doing something (pouring coffee, typing, walking).

TACTIC 2: THE VERBAL HOOK (0:01–0:03)

Never start with "Hey guys, welcome back." That is a retention killer. Start immediately with the value or the controversy. Use strong openers: "Stop doing this..." or "Here is the secret to..." or "I tried X so you don't have to." You must open a Curiosity Loop that can only be closed by watching the rest of the video.

TACTIC 3: THE PAYOFF PROMISE (0:03–0:05)

Once you have their attention, tell them exactly what they will get if they stay. "By the end of this video, you will know exactly how to X." This creates a contract with the viewer. They give you their time; you give them the solution.

You don't have a content problem; you have a hook problem. Spend 50% of your scripting time on the first sentence. If the hook fails, the video fails.
